What Causes Fatigue Along With Excessive Sleepiness?

default
Posted on Tue, 9 Dec 2014
Question: Hi,

I need consultation regarding my health. The problem is that I feel tired and sleepy most of the time even around 9am in the office. My office hours are from 7-8am to 4-6pm. Please find below detail of my daily food activity:
a) Break-fast between 8 to 9 am - Idly, Dosa, Cornflakes/ Oats & Boiled egg (1 pc)
b) Lunch between 1-2pm - Chicken/veg curry with 3 chapati
c) Evening snacks around 5-6pm - Dahi papdi or any other snacks.
d) Dinner - Veg curry with 3 chapati on regulary basis. Chicken once a week. Milk 3 to 4 days a week before sleeping.
I usually go to bed around 11pm on weekdays and wake up between 6:30-7am. On weekends it varies but it would be around 1am I got bed and wake up between 9 - 10am. I am into finance field and have a desk job which does not include much of physical activity in my daily routine.
On an average I spend 8 to 10 hours per day in front of computer screen. I do not have any eye sight issue as of my last check-up in 2013.
I need your help in overcoming these issues and feel energetic.
I feel sleepy even in afternoons and after lunch hours while working in office. I yawn a lot during day time and at times it is impossible for me to work in office. It's difficult for me to concentrate on work and it hampers my work as well. I easily get headaches and start feeling drowsy. I don't feel energetic throughout day. I am not on any kind of medication. Recently I have started taking Nutrilite multivitamin and multiminerals (proprietary food health supplement).

Brief Answer:
Get vitamin D and vitamin B12 test done

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
First sorry for delayed response
Thank you for your information.
Feeling sleepy and yawning may be due to you are not having interest in you rjob.
I can understand your job and politics but you have to know in every office it happens, because everyone does not has same mentality, different people think in different ways, do not think that It happens in only in your office. I suggest you if you are having any problem with your work speak to your team leader or with colleagues who can resolve your problems. Or talk to person who gives you trouble.
If you do not like work then try to shift to another job if possible.
Do your works with interest, if you do not show interest then you feel sleepy and boring.
Since I have no idea about your work I cannot say more words about it.
Now come to weakness and physical exercises:
Lack of physical exercise can cause loss of interest.
You have to do 30 minutes physical exercises, if you do it will increase blood circulation to your brain and you feel active.
I also suggest you get blood tests like vitamin B 12, vitamin D, lipid profile and thyroid profile. Sometimes these vitamin deficiencies can cause weakness and loss of interest.
I also suggest you eat light food in lunch like sandwiches with fruit juices or any other food (Healthy food with nutrients) which gives you instant energy.
Eat nuts like almonds, cashew nuts regularly.
Eat protein rich food like egg, sprouts, meal maker an dairy products.

If you have any queries I will be happy to help you.
Thank you.
