Question: Hello doctor. I have a question for you pertaining to something that has been with since I was little. Ever since I was a little boy I have had a awkward displacement towards being excited. Often times this only happens in private but if I find something truly exciting, my heart rate will accelerate extraordinarly and my hands will start flapping and twitching general closer to the face as if to savor the moment. Perhaps you could tell me what this is?

Brief Answer:
This could be normal response.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
The symptoms which you have mentioned are most probably a normal physiological response of body to an exciting stimulus.
When an exciting stimulus is presented to body, there is activation of autonomic nervous system which leads to increased heart beat and tremors.
However, i am a bit more concerned toward twitching of face. This could be a normal phenomenon in some and may reflect a neurological deficit if it’s present even when you are not excited. A nerve conduction study can be helpful.

To be on safer side, you can get an ECG and a CT scan of head done. This will guide in the further management and treatment. You can visit your physician to discuss these issues.
Hope this helps you.
Any further queries are welcome.
Thanks.
