Posted on Wed, 15 Oct 2014
Question: Fairly tired all week. I am a coffee drinker. I woke up this morning with a racing heart, slightly, headache, nausea, I took an iron supplement and a vitamin, havent eaten, had orange juice. Had light colored feces and then threw up mostly water and feel slightly better. I had low iron once before and had these symptoms so thats what prompted me to take an iron supplement.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

This does not sound like low iron. There are few possible reasons of your symptoms.
If your stool sees to be whitish and you have nausea, some abdominal pain and dark urine, bile ducts obstruction can be the reason.
If your stool is diarrhea like, gastrointestinal infection can give all your symptoms.
If you do drink lots of coffee, Magnesium and Potassium deficiency can be the reason of your symptoms.
Racing heart can also be the symptom of dehydration, bleeding to gastrointestinal tract, some infection like lungs infection, urinary tract infection. It can also indicate some systemic disease like leukemia, lymphoma.
It is really hard to give more precise diagnose without some tests. That is why I suggest you to consult your doctor. Blood work, liver tests, CRP level, urine analysis and abdominal ultrasound should be done at first.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

My stool is not whitish but a beige color. I have been belching alot this morning too. I just vomited twice, mild, mostly water. I feel better after vomiting until the next wave starts. It may be an intestinal bug?

Detailed Answer:
YEs, it may be an intestinal infection (viral or bacterial). However this conditions usually give diarrhea as a main symptom. So it is better to have mentioned tests done as it may be something serious.

I definitely had diarrhea and vomited mostly liquid. No blood in anything. Symptoms subsided but seem to feel bloated and gassy again after a meal with some spices. I have had no problem with bland foods or dairy, just a bit spicy

Detailed Answer:
Well, you can not expect that after gastrointestinal infection (which seems the most probable reason as the diarrhea has appeared) you will be able to it normally right after the symptoms are gone. Please note that you need few days or even a week to get back to normal. During that time, mild diet (boiled meat, boiled vegetables, rice) is what you should eat. Please also start probiotic intake.
