What Causes Fainting And Low Heart Rate?

default
Posted on Thu, 26 Jun 2014
Question: I had 3 faint spells in the past 4 months. My doctor did bloods all ok and an heart trace, again ok but she said my heart rate is low about 50-55 p/m probably due to running. However she told me to eat breakfast which I have been doing for the past week. I haven't felt really faint again but this morning after a hot shower I got pins and needles and a cold feeling in the left arm/hand for about a minute before I had eaten. Is this related as I still have a general feeling of lightheadedness or have I developed an anxiety disorder or something worse? It is a hot day but my arms and legs are feeling tingly and my eyes are so tired/sore

Brief Answer:
It could be due to anxiety

Detailed Answer:
HI
Thanks for using healthcare magic. I, Dr Abhishek Kapoor, would help you in this query.

I think, those fainting attacks could be due to low glucose level or hypotension or anxiety attack. Tingling sensation, light head, etc may be possible in any of these. If your blood pressure and blood sugar level is normal, then it is due to anxiety disorder. In that case, you can try some anxiolytic like clonazepam on sos basis or you can try some relaxation exercise. Just stay relax and you would be fine in few hours

In case, you need further help, you can ask.

My bloods and heart rate were all fine. My arms and legs feel heavy today and my face feels (isn't though) swollen. Could this be related to the pins and needles or have I got a cold coming on

Brief Answer:
Take any anxiolytic

Detailed Answer:
HI

It seems like a anxiety attack. Body reacts the way we think. May be you are tense that why you have tingling sensation or pin/needles like feeling in arms. Nothing to worry about that. Just take any anxiolytic like clonazepam and you would be fine in few hours. Just relax.

In case, you have more query, you can ask.
