What Causes Extreme Muscle Pain And Swollen Knee Along With Deep Cough?

default
Posted on Mon, 6 Apr 2015
Question: I awoke in the middle of the night to extreme muscle and body pains and could not move the right side of my body without experiencing extreme pain. I had no strength in my arms and also have a swollen knee with red blotches on the knee cap accompanied by a deep cough and an unexplainable and undiagnosed (and have been to 5 different doctors) rash condition on my palms. Still achy all over but am able to stand and lift items almost 100%. Joints are stiff and I had trigger fingers. They would pop when I tried to bend them or make a fist.

It been an ongoing occurrence with the skin minus the middle of the night paralysis. I am 44 and hardly intake alcohol and have not smoked in 5 years. The bumps or rash turn pustular and remain under the skin without breaking. I also experienced blotches on my knees along with the swelling and stiffness. I've been prescribed different creams and prednisone which seems to knock it out in a week or so but have been advised to not take prednisone each time I have a break out which each almost monthly.

You need to consultant dermatologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,Thanks for replying. I beleive that you are having inflammatory arthritis. I would recommend you to get these investigations.
1.ESR,CRP, RA factor
2.Ant iCCP antibody
3.Dermatologist's opinion for skin lesion
as you told me that you have been taking prednisone, It should not be taken like this. Once you shtart it than you can not stopped it suddenly as than it give reise to increase disease activity. So If this time you have been prescribe this medicine,
than you should taper it gradually.
