Question: My husband over the past year has had and increase of symptoms and we are now listing them to see what type of Dr to see. His symptoms are:
1) Extreme fatigue
2) Weakness in Left arm ( history of vascular outlet syndrome)
3) Choking 1 to 2 times a day with saliva, fluids and crackers
4) feeling of hot waves 5 to 6 times a day
5) poor endurance. He does a little then has to sit or lay down due to weakness all over
6) never feels rested although he can sleep hours on end
7) Uncontrollable sweating with and without activity
8) feeling of being bit by ants on bilateral forearms and thighs and entire legs from the knees down
9) Feet have the feeling of being cold however pedal and post tibia pulses present
10)Anxiety
11) sometimes food feels like it will not go down, muscle spasm. He has to move his head back to stretch muscle to make it go down.
12)Left arm is very weak can't even do a push up
13) has been going to the gym 2 x a week with trainer and his balance is bad and trainer is just working on strengthening muscles and not able to do a normal workout.

He is 62 years old with a h/o type 2 diabetes, HTN, kidney stones, thoracic outlet syndrome, Lumbar fusion x1 and cervical fusion x2 and ocular stroke . He is usually very active and self motivated but these symptoms have got him down and now we are wondering if he may have a neuromuscular problem. I am a nurse and feel he needs help but he just got a new primary MD and he is hesitant to tell him all these symptoms.

I answered the medications tried question wrong. He had been on Horizant for the thoracic outlet syndrome but has since d/c'd it as that symptom has improved.
No other meds for the symptoms unless the symptoms he is having are a side effect from the medications he is already on!

Brief Answer:
Neurologist and orthopedic specialist....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry for the health problems your son is going through.

1. All his current problems are indicating neuro-muscular issues. Thoracic outlet syndrome, diabetic neuropathy, lumbar fusion explain his current health problems.
Neurologist to consult further together with orthopedic specialist.

We should know at what degree all his neurological problems is affecting his nerves.

2. He should tell his primary physician all his current health problems, not to be hesitant as he/she will help with further diagnostic and treatment strategy.

3. Keep monitoring his blood pressure and blood sugar levels, record the results for future reference.

Once again, neurologist and orthopedic specialist to consult further.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have further queries.
