Posted on Sat, 13 Dec 2014
Question: I am a male, 80 years old. After my (left) inguinal hernia operation at the beginning of XXXXXXX of this year I noticed that my left testicle was larger and heavier than the right one. My GP doctor examined me and said that it is not cancer but probably some extra fluid in the testicle.

Brief Answer:
Ultrasonography with Color Doppler examination

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Regards, Sir!

Thanks for your query.

I hope the operation for left inguinal hernia surgery was an open operation.
In this procedure there is extensive dissection and you must have been fitted with mesh to avoid the recurrence.

With the time the body heals the area with fibrosis as a normal healing process.
The lymphatics (the channels other than the venous drainage) may get partial blockage to get hydrocele / enlargement of the scrotum / testicle.

The best way I would suggest is to have an Ultrasonography and Color Doppler examination to ascertain the cause and to decide whether further treatment is needed or not.

Thanks for going through my answer; I hope this helps you to get a clear idea of the present situation.

Wishing you a great health.
