What Causes Excessive Sweating?

Posted on Thu, 26 Nov 2015
Question: Fasting question: I'm living in a tent while pursuing building a home. But I haven't obtained a heat source for the tent yet, and it's been getting down to 34 degrees fahrenheit. I have to use so many blankets at night to keep warm that I sweat so much that it is like doing regular sauna therapy each night (I hydrate well during the day). If I were to fast twice a week like I have been accustomed to doing, in the presence of my body working hard to stay warm all the time in very cold weather - and in the presence of what is in effect regular sauna-like therapy each night - would fasting be too much additional work for my body? Or would it be beneficial by saving work for my body because energy is not spent digesting meals?

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome to Health Care Magic.

Thanks for writing.

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad. I have read your question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.

If your are sweating too much it means you are using too many blankets ..you should only use that many blankets which can just give you warmth not give you a sauna...this isnt healthy....

In such condition fasting would not be an extra effort though because you said you hydrate well in the day ...I would also recommend you to keep water with you in night and drink it twice or thrice in nught. But what you should do more importantly is to use just enough blankets to keep you warm not drench you in sweat.

Energy is used to digest food but many times more energy is obtained from digested food to net energy is gained by the body, so your thinking that you will save energy by fasting isn't really what happens in reality.

I would suggest you to change you blanket habit... and you can avoid fasting if your are concerned and do not have any strong reason to fast twice a week.

I hope this answered your question, a

Thank you very much Dr. XXXXXXX I like to fast for spiritual purposes. If I was doing partial fasting where I eat say 1 bite of fruit and 1 teaspoon of honey 6 times a day for the fast, do you think this would present too much stress on my body because of a possible detoxification stressor from the fast combined with the stressor of my body spending energy keeping me warm in the very cold weather?

Brief Answer:
Body doesnt really get effected by minor things.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing back , Fasting is indeed a great way to get spiritual peace... fasting twice a week would not cause any big stress to your body, our body is a master piece and it knows how to work best under specific conditions...

If it has to spend energy to keep you warm in winters...it does spend energy to keep you cold in summers like it transports salts out..it dilates veins... it spends energy in a million sweat glands etc...

So energy is not really an issue in winter... infact you would have seen people lose more weight in summer compared to winters it means that in winters body is at power saving mode it doesnt let go of energy this easily so I would suggest you not to think too much about moderate energy changes some honey ...half a pound of food up and down... 500 calories of energy lost or gain doesn't really bother our body if happens only twice a week ..yes long term changes may cause significant effects.

I would suggest you not to worry... complete fasting wont effect you much and partial fasting is even more comfortable for the body... overall there is no big net change in energy of the body so don't worry much about that thing...

Just use moderate number of blankets and avoid over sweating yourself with loads of blankets...and don't worry about fasting..drink enough water and salts during the time you are not fasting and dont worry about minor energy consumption by the body... body knows how to adjust its net gain and loss..

Stay blessed.

Best wishes for your home.

Regards.
