Question: Hi, Dr. Grief,
My dad is 86 yr old and has advanced Parkinson's. He fell about 3 weeks ago and had femoral neck fracture. the decision has been made for him not having the surgery. He seems sleep a lot more than before the fall, but he is rational and logical when he is awake. And he did not hurt his head when he fell. Just wonder what is going on and what should we do next?
Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Due to fracture neck femur he feels pain on move.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us,
I have studied your case with diligence.
Due to fracture neck femur he feels pain on any hip or body movement so he is lying supine in bed without making any body movement.
Due to static position he may feel sleepy.
Another possibility of electrolyte imbalance due to fracture.
There is very less possibility of displaced fracture neck femur to unite non surgically.
Non weight bearing for few weeks is very important .And physiotherapy in form of CPM [continuous passive motion] can be started later.
You may need to check his electrolyte and after few days rest hip physiotherapy can be started.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Brief Answer:
Less likely
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
It is less likely that fall lead to impact on PD unless there is associated head injury.
As there is no head injury possibility of impact on PD is rare.
But due to fracture his mobility has reduced leading to some psychosocial impact.
