Question: Hi, My symptoms of excessive flatulence and foul smelling stools are concerning me and embarrassing me too. I have been checked for coeliac disease and it has not showed up. I have lactose intolerance. I am otherwise a healthy 65 year old, weigh 47 kg. What should I introduce in my diet or omit. ?Thank you. XXXXXXX

Hello and thank you for your question.
It is good that you do not have celiac disease.
The first thing to do is to make sure that no dairy products are in any of the foods you eat. Lactose intolerance can be a major cause of flatulence.
Next I would try adding a probiotic to your regimen twice a day.
If you drink any sodas get rid of them.
Also try getting some Beano. It is a product that you take when you are eating beans, broccoli or other gas producing foods.
Next try limiting the foods you eat to lean meats, rice and simple vegetables for a few days and see if the symptoms resolve. Add back foods one at a time and notice which foods you add cause the problems.
