What Causes Erectile Dysfunction Along With Swelling On Penis And Painful Erection?

default
Posted on Fri, 13 Mar 2015
Question: Hello. I am young individual with no cormorbities, healthy.

Several months ago, in the middle of the night i woke up with a painful erection which eventually subsided after several hours.

but ever since then ive been having erectile dysfunction, swelling of penis (as if blood is not draining, gets better when standing up) did a doppler test which showed lower arterial flow.
but i wake up everday with rigid nonpainful erections every night since then. (not painful but bothersome enough to wake up from sleep)

however, my symptoms dont end here. ever since ive been having substantial decreased amount of urine output. dont feel urge to urinate. i drink 3-4 liters of water but urine output is very low. urine is very foamy and very slow stream.

since the priapism incident, i cant remember when i had full bladder. i could go almost whole day not urinating and still dont have urge to urinate

ive been to urologist they think it is prostate related (although nothing showed up). but for me it is not matter of hard to urinate, for me i just dont get enough urine production accompanied by erectile dysfunction/penile swelling especially when lying down.

also have parital coldness, weakness time to time in my left leg/hip pain

any help would be appreciated

Brief Answer:
need some more details.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I have gone through your details and understand your concerns.

May I ask for some details, so that I can guide you better:
1. Are you taking any medications currently?
2. Have you undergone any investigations other than penile doppler? Like MRI of Spine, blood counts, urine examination?.
3. Have you suffered any injury or trauma in recent past?
4. Do you have swelling anywhere else in the body?

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks.

thank you dr. for your reply.
1. currently taking advil prn basis
2.negative urine, prostate, mri of back, blood test all normal
3. no trauma. but had this lump on penis which subsquently disappeared/felt it pop or dislodge and travel down to base of penis. i know it sounds impossible but definately i felt it going down to base of penis. that very night had priapism.

now severe ED but at night get these weird erections "looks full erection" but have blood filled where CC is very rigid but CS is totally soft , giving a feeling of half full bottled of water. happens every night wakes me up from sleep but not painful bit bothersome enough to wake me up every several hours.

4. no swelling but ever since the incidence appearance of vein from left upper thigh travel down to the ankle. but no swelling but after long walk i get not painful but pulsating type or straining pulling feeling in ankles and thighs.

urination is very difficult to start, dribbles, less amount. feels empty after i urinate so residual ledt is not a problem. just very weak urine stream because less urine vol in bladder to begin with.

thanks

Brief Answer:
uroflowmetry, CT abdomen; symptomatic treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the details.

Most of the investigations in your case are normal.

I hope you have undergone uroflowmetry and CT scan of abdomen as well. This might help to determine the cause of your urinary problems.

In such cases where all investigations are normal, we usually go for symptomatic treatment.

Since you have unwanted erections at night, nocturnal penile tumescence testing is advisable to draw a conclusion whether the problem is organic or not.

For ED problems, Tablet cialis (prescription drug) can be useful. A trial with this drug can also possibly screen for organic ED.

For straining feelings in legs, I hope you have undergone for serum calcium and vitamin B12 levels and lipid profile.
Multivitamin supplements containing B-complex and vitamin and calcium supplements can help in this.

I would suggest you to also go for a second opinion from an urologist

Hope this is of some help to you.

Feel free to ask further.

Thanks.
