What Causes Elevated Triglyceride Level While On Lipofen And Fenofibrate?

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Oct 2015
Question: My triglyceride level has been about 250 260 for some time. Have been taking Lipofen for some time and recently the cardiologist added Fenofibrate. On a recent lab the triglyceride went to 450. Will admit that with summer I did go off diet a little with a lot of functions going on, but I don't think it should have gone that far. Also take two fish oil capsules daily (1400 mg) and 10mg of Crestor. Could taking the liopfen and fenofibrate caused the increased?

Brief Answer:
Fenofibrate lowers triglycerides

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concern and will help you in best possible way,

Tab lipofen contains fenofibarate which lowers the triglyceride.
Crestor contains rosuvastatin, it is also a lipid lowering agent.

So these drugs help in lowering the lipids and bringing down the triglyceride level,
It will not increase the levels,

I think you should have a better diet control,

Reduce saturated fat and trans-fat in your diet,

Use low fat dairy products only,

Include green leafy vegetables and fruits in your diet,

Get into some activities like morning walk.

Hope this information helps.

Wish you good health,

Regards
