What Causes Elevated Creatinine Levels?

default
Posted on Thu, 11 May 2017
Question: I recently passed a very large bladder stone with a metal clip in it. It was in my bladder, for three years before I passed it. The pain was dreadful. They thought I had pelvic floor dysfunction. I saw a urologist yesterday. My blood work was not the best! Glucose was 110, however I had a contain of yohart with granola and 4 oz of coke less than three hours before. My Bun was 30, Creatinine 1.59, Carbon Dioxide 18, Anion Gap21. Am I in trouble? could it still be from the stone with the metal clip from surgery 10 years ago?

Brief Answer:
You may have more clips in the bladder.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Urine analysis is missing as well as bladder and kidneys ultrasound. Without this information it is hard to tell. Why did you have this surgery done?
What I can tell is that you have some kidney failure, most likely caused by a stone blockage which is gone right now. Your kidneys need time to get back to normal. That is why, creatine level is a bit too high.
In my opinion you should have urine analysis done and kidneys ultrasound (CT without a contrast can be not enough).

If there was one clip, there is a great possibility you have more of them in your bladder. CT should tell.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
