Question: Hi I am facing problem regarding personal hygiene related to genital area of mine. Am 27 year old and till now I have never shaved my pubic hairs and never thought it would be very imp to shave it. Now the problem is I sweat a lot, though I take bath everyday and clean genital areas thoroughly recently I have noticed that there is black layer deposit on my testicles and it is causing me very irritation I tried clean it more thoroughly with hot water but as skin is sensitive later I realized I left scratches and it gave very high burning sensation. These pubic hairs are very irritating. Am scared to shave them as skin is sensitive I may end in skin cut and if keep on shaving does skin there in gentile are will not be come harsh or ruff. Is there any other way to keep them hygiene. some time I get some pimples there and it is very irritating, but it will go off within days with out any medication. Now also I have some but this time it is more irritating. I have seen in porn videos guys with clean gentile area and I want to maintain like same as am gonna get married in couple of weeks. please help me

Brief Answer:
Fungal infection; I suggest oral and topical antifungals

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us and congratulations for getting married soon!

I have gone through your query and I have also reviewed the Images.

I can see that you have dry, scaly patches and redness of groin skin folds. It seems like a fungal infectionto me i.e tinea cruris.

If I was the treating doctor I would suggest a topical antifungal e.g Clotrin-B Or Candid- B cream (combination of clotrimazole 1% + beclomethasone dipropionate 0.025% cream). You may use it twice daily for 2-4 weeks.

Orally I would suggest tablet fluconazole once every week for 4-6 weeks.

Once you have completed antifungal treatment, thereafter, you may continue with an antifungal dusting powder in groin folds, to be used tiwce daily.
This would keep the folds dry and also prevent fungus from proliferating again.

These are prescription medications and must be used under supervision of a dermatologist and are to be used only for the duration prescribed.
I suggest that you also visit a dermatologist in your vicinity for a confirmatory diagnosis and for the needful.

As far as not shaving pubic area is concerned, it entirely depends on you, whether you want to shave it or not. Shaving, however, does not cause any harm to the skin there.
Not shaving may cause sweat accumulation and provide a favourable environment for fungal growth. However, if you do want to shave I suggest you to delay it for a week and let the scratches heal. Be gentle in this area.
