Brief Answer:
too much coughing probably...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

since you're a young healthy man (or you haven't mentioned any history of diseases...) the most likely cause is excessive cough. The rest of your symptoms are important to form a differential diagnosis. For example if you're also having a runny nose and nasal congestion or fever then it could be a respiratory tract infection.

Blood in the sputum requires clinical examination and radiological testing to determine the cause, unless it is evident or diagnosed. A chest X-ray would be very helpful to exclude most lower respiratory tract causes. Chronic conditions like asthma will have to be treated if present, but your doctor will have to diagnose such conditions. Other tests might have to be done, depending on the rest of your symptoms. For example, shortness of breath is a medical emergency and various heart and pulmonary conditions will have to be excluded with various tests (ECG, d-dimers, echo, etc).

The periodicity of your symptom is not strange because many respiratory tract infection occur during the autumn and winter, so some coughing is expected.

Regarding treatment, it depends on the cause. For example, if it's asthma then the treatment would be totally different compared to treatment for an infection.

I hope you find my comments helpful!
