What Causes Dropping Neutrophil Count Despite Having Neupogen Injections?

default
Posted on Sat, 20 Sep 2014
Question: Hi.. I have auto immune netropenia as well as a positive ANA.. I've been sick with a cold/cough/sinus for 40 days and can't seem to get better. I've been receiving neupogen injections for 6 days straight - which have brought my neutrophil counts up.. and now I'm doing labs every other day and my numbers are dropping again.. once my ANC gets to 1.0 - I receive another injection. On my labs done yesterday... it showed my immature granulocytes absolute at 0.28 - with the 'normal' range being 0.00-0.06/K/uL. Do I need to be concerned and what does this mean for me?

Brief Answer:
Dont worry it may be due to your drug.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear. I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern regarding your immature granulocytes. you have autoimmune neutropenia and you are taking treatment for that. You took injection to increase your count. It stimulate the production of granulocytes from bone marrow and so that some immaure cells comes out to the peripherals blood circulation and thats why you may have immure granulocytes. So no need to worry. Its happen. Take your regular treatment according to your doctor's advice for you auto immune disease.
