What Causes Dizziness?

default
Posted on Fri, 19 Dec 2014
Question: Hello,
I made a trip earlier to the E.R. because I have been feeling ill, I have been feeling dizzy. they did an chest X-ray and a ct-scan of my brain, following an EKG,a blood test, and a urinalysis. I was discharged and was told that everything was fine. my chest X-ray was normal and my ct-scan was normal, the nurse that discharged me said everything was good besides my cholestorol. They gave me a copy of my complete CBC and I have a couple of questions? They claim everything is fine however, my WBC count was 12.3 instead of 4.5 to 11.0 which is slightly high. My MCHC is 31.4 instead of 32.0 to 36.0 which is low. My LYMPH % was 11.3 instead of 24.0 to 44.0 which is low. My GRAN is 10.0 instead of 1.4 to 9.1 which is high and my ANION GAP was 18 instead of 5 to 15 which is high. I read the paper and it has categories such as High, Low, Abnormal, and Error. Does this seem bad? The docs didnt seem concerned I just want to make sure I am healthy . I will be working out of state for the next 2 weeks in a remote location and want to make sure I am healthy to do so.
2 days ago, I also want to make sure it's nothing to be concerned about.

Brief Answer:
There is no need to be worried.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX

Report suggests mild deviation of some values. It is acceptable and need clinical correlation.Keeping in view of your complain of dizziness, it is not a matter of concern and it is acceptable. There is no emergency and you are perfectly healthy.
Important investigations for dizziness are normal.

It need clinical correlation for mildly increased WBC count.Decreased lymphocyte percentage and mildly increased granulocyte count are also related to elevated WBC count. There must be some signs of infection like fever, cough etc.Since you don't have these symptoms it is acceptable. You can go for repeat test after 2 weeks.
MCHC is minimally decreased and this is normal.
Increased anion gap may be due to many reasons like increased respiration, decreased appetite, low blood pressure etc. These are benign causes and doesn't require any treatment.

Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your question.
Further queries are most welcome.

Take Care
