Brief Answer:
Orthostatic Hypertension

Detailed Answer:
Hello

My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.

I have gone through your statement and have concluded that you want to know about "head rushing". If this occurs when you stand up from sitting position then it is termed as "orthostatic hypertension. When you stand up from sitting position then blood pools down due to effect of gravity as a result there is decreased blood supply to brain (causing dizziness or head rush) but within seconds blood redistributes under the influence of "Autonomic Nervous System" control of the body. In most cases there is no pathological cause behind this and just gets prominent in stressful conditions.

Suggestion:
You need not to worry & simply keep healthy diet along with light exercise(walk). If you have a tough daily routine then i would suggest you to take 2-3 days off for complete rest. If pain occurs then you can take acetaminophen for it.

If condition does not improve then you need to visit hospital for detailed workup to rule out pathological cause.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wishing you good health.

Did you read my first post?? The rushing sensation continued for several hours whether I wasstanding or sitting it was constant. After the annoying rushing for 3 or 4 hours I sneezed 6 or 7 times and it lessened and stopped. I had one of these episodes in the past .....woke up in the morning with the rushing. Went back to bed and slept three hours when I woke the rushing was gone. Just wanted you to have all the info. Also I have sinus problems....thought there might be a connection. Didn't think you understood that the rushing was constant....from your reply..

Brief Answer:
Stress Induced

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thank You for writing back with more information.

By first post if you mean other than this thread then sorry i have not got chance to give it a glance. I am glad that it resolved. It probably was because of stress in that case. Sinus infection can also be a triggering factor. If still you are having sinus infection then i would suggest you following general measures to improve it (and you can also follow in future as well if sinus problem occurs):

> Take hot water in a cup, add 1 table spoon salt in it. Perform gargles (mouth wash) with it three times a day for at least 3 days. It will give soothing effect.
> Take boiling water in a pot, put your head over the steam and cover whole with a sheet. Take deep breaths in it.(Avoid getting closer else it might cause burn). Do this twice a day.

AVOID:
> Chilled water
> Drinks
> Spicy food

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. Wishing you good health!
