What Causes Dizziness?

default
Posted on Sat, 28 Jun 2014
Question: I have been having dizzy spell, not the kind where the room spins ,but the ones where I feel like i could pass out. They started in Nov. and only lasted 4-5 seconds, gradually growing to where now they are lasting days. My heart beat skips occassionally I am seeing drs. but have them stumped. I have had every test ,blood work is normal. Heart is strong had internal ultrasound they found tiny hole a genetic flaw from birth. Everything from my waist has been scaned to my neck. neck veins and arteries are ok. I have no pain, just now the room makes me feel unsteady when I first stand up. I have had a crushed knee surgery 17 yrs ago and have a metal plate in my arm from auto accident. I have been treated for blood clots in my lower legs, but am on no meds now. Could I have a brain tumor there is a history of cancer in the family on both sides.

Brief Answer:
The chance of brain tumor is low.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms and investigations.

I am happy to note that all investigations are normal, however, it is unfortunate that a clear cut diagnosis has not been made.

We need to exclude a brain disease, such as ischemia (lack of blood flow to brain), tumor, etc. However, the chances of you having a brain tumor is low.

In any case, you should get a MRI brain with angiogram to exclude brain ischemia.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
