Question: Hello Doctor XXXXXXX

Since I am having GERD, as you advised I am taking Omeprazole tablet daily since some days. But now I feel like my throat has swollen inside and a kind of dry cough I am feeling inside and I drink plenty of water still I feel dehydration kind of thing. Moring time my voice changes every day (there in no cough and cold). But I consulted ENT specialist to know if there is any infection in my throat. He did Laryngoscopy and prescribed some medicine. I have not started taking it. Before taking the medicine I thought to consult you and get your opinion. I do not have any symptom like Heart burn at all. But, normally nowadays my right chest will pain in the morning. I am thinking this all problems are due to GERD. The ENT Doctor told me this is the first stage of GERD.

I am attaching a report for your review. Could you please let me know in details what exactly happened to my throat now based on ENT Doctors report. Is there any special medicine or test I need to undergo. If I leave like this taking only Omeprezol, does this throat problem will be cured?

I need your suggestion/advise as an Gastroenterologist what medicine I need to take now to cure this throat problem. If I leave this problem like this what problem it might create. I have this throat problem since 2 months, nowadays it looks like it is getting worst day by day.

I am 26 age, my height is 5.3, weight 56KG, before it was 59 kg (2 month back). I do not have any habit of drinking alcohol, smoking.

Waiting for your response.

Regards,

Brief Answer:
Continue Nexpro for 6 weeks

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr XXXXXX
I have gone through the reports you have uploaded. The report suggests that you have swelling around your vocal cord. This is most likely to be due to GERD.

If you don't take medications you are likely to experience recurrent chest pain and throat symptoms.

I would advise you to continue either omeprazole or Nexpro for at least 4 to 6 weeks.

In case your symptoms still persist then the next investigations would be Endoscopy followed by pH studies if needed.

Good this helps.
