What Causes Discomfort In The Back Of Head When I Lay Down?

default
Posted on Fri, 12 Jun 2015
Question: I have discomfort in the back of my head above my neck. I can sleep sitting up but not lying down. I feel like I need to drink something with electrolytes. The lower back is painful as well. When lying flat I can hardly get up. I must have the room cold as well.

Brief Answer:
Fibromyalgia should be evaluated as a possible cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

First, there's is need to clarify some other aspects about your symptoms.

Are there accompanying symptoms such fatigue, memory problems, depression, headaches?

Was the thyroid function tested?

Symptoms you describe with elevated ESR are more likely to be related to Fibromyalgia a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues.

There's need for clinical evaluation about tender points, thyroid function tests, and exclusion of other causes of your symptoms in order to evaluate correctly this diagnosis.

I suggest you to discuss with your treating Doctor above mentioned possibilities.

Hope this helps. I remain at your disposal for further questions and clarifications.

Wishing you good health.
