What Causes Discomfort And Itching Sensation In The Rectum?

default
Posted on Tue, 12 Jul 2016
Question: I felt like there was something (possibly a tiny crumble of toilet paper) just inside of my rectum, It was really uncomfortable and kind of itchy. This has been happening a lot lately, So I put on a latex glove and tried to get it out, but instead felt a small bb sized bump about 1/2 inch in on the left side. Do I have something to worry about?

Brief Answer:
Per-rectal and proctoscopy examination needs to be done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history and understood your concerns.

The feeling of a lump of the size of bb about 1/2 inch on left side is a thing to worry about for the following possibilities:
- Thrombosed hemorrhoid.
- Polyp
- Mass

I would advise you the following:
Please consult a General Surgeon and get the per-rectal digital and proctoscopy be done as soon as possible and get an appointment for colonoscopy. CT scan of the whole abdomen may be needed if required by the preliminary diagnosis.

This will give the perfect diagnosis which is so much important to know whether this is a benign or a malignant lesion.

I hope this answer helps you. Since the medical field depends solely on the facts, it is better to get the proper diagnosis ASAP.
Please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

Thank you for your help...I do need to clarify, however, that the bump is about the size of a BB,,,It is about 1/2 inch up inside my rectum. The fact does still remain, though, that your advise to me still seems like my best action. I an a bit afraid to call my Dr, but I know it must be done.

Is there any less scary things it might be? Just looking for all possibilities.

Brief Answer:
Do not worry please, let the diagnosis be done ASAP

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your appreciation.
I do understand BB size, it is about 4.5 mm and the length of 1/2 inch up inside the rectum.
No, there is no need to worry, once a proper diagnosis is done your stress and anxiety will automatically be negated.
This is most probably a polyp.
Please get the check-up done and give me the follow-up.
