default
Posted on Sat, 5 Sep 2015
Question: I just had my gall bladder removed on Wednesday and today a having a discomfort at the top of my breath in the area of my right kidney. Could this just be post operative recovery? My gall bladder issue did result in Pancreatitus, Urinary tract infection, Elevated Liver enzymes, and Tea colored urine. All of which are great now.

Brief Answer:
Further tests advised to rule out relapse of uti;pancreatitis as following.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

1. You are saying to have a discomfort in the area of your right kidney. Actually, the area you are referring is close to the operative area. It is common to have this discomfort after surgery.

However, if I was your caring doctor and taking into account your medical history, I'd advise to run some tests to rule out :
- relapse of urinary tract infection (UTI) through urine analysis
- pancreatitis and bowel gas through abdominal ultrasound and pancreas function test

Your doctor might have prescribed antibiotics that are associated with imbalance of normal intestinal flora especially if, apart discomfort, you are also feeling:
- being bloated
- abdominal distention
- changes in bowel movements

I advise to discuss with your doctor to run the recommended tests to re-evaluate your health problems and to start taking probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora.
Buscopan use can help easing the discomfort; while simethicone will help reduce gas if bloated.

Hope it was of help! Let me know if you need further assistance!

Brief Answer:
Most welcome;start taking probiotics until you see your doctor then...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back XXXXXXX

Ok then, until then, you can start taking probiotics on your own as they will ease your symptoms. They won't cause any harm.

Looking forward to have your feedback then.
