Posted on Wed, 14 Jan 2015
Question: I am 28 years ole female and wear glasses with power of 1( for far objects clarity). I have been wearing specs since last 7-8 years but do ont wear it regularly. My eyes feel tired very soon and i also feel pain behind my eyes many of the times even if i wear specs. Even after little work my eyes feel tired and dull. They are also very deep set and seem to have sunk further. Would like you to help me understand the reason and if something can be done to prevent the tiredness and pain as well as improve my eyes from further sinking inwards in the socket.

Brief Answer:
Tiredness of eyes can be because of refractive error.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed your history. It seems from the history that you are having refractive error in the form of myopia as you are having difficulty in seeing far things clearly. This needs to be corrected by the use of spectacles.
The problem of tiredness of eyes can be because of asthenopic symptoms as you are not wearing spectacles regularly or can be because of increase in the refractive error.
Hence to avoid tiredness and pain behind the eyes, you need to wear the glasses regularly and if the symptoms persist even after wearing the spectacles regularly, verification of spectacles and the refractive power is required. Hence you need to consult your optometrist or ophthalmologist for vision and refraction testing.

The use of artificial tears eye drops can provide symptomatic relief in case you are having tiredness of eyes.

The sunken eyes can be because of dehydration or because of deficiency of essential nutrients or because of sleeplessness. This requires use of multivitamins and correction of dehydration and adequate sleep accordingly if present.

Hope this answers your questions and it is helpful to you.

Do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
With regards
