What Causes Difficulty In Climbing Stairs And Leg Weakness?

default
Posted on Mon, 8 Sep 2014
Question: I have had a dull ache in my right side under the rib cage since a hard fall about 8 months ago. I was diagnosed by a neurologist in XXXXXXX in mid-1999 with CMT1. For almost a year I wss taking multiple state-controlled pain medications, falling frequently, very fatiqued, and suffering short -term memory. In September 20000, I was able to get of the pain medications and other symptoms went away. However, atrophied leg muscles still make it very hard for me to climb stairs, leg weakness, and I also still have my legs go down on me without warning when I grow tired.

I suffered a really hard fall about 8 months ago, severe sprain and swelling, etc. I also seemed to have pulled the muscles in my upper right side. Could this be what is still causing me to have this ache in my right side under the rib cage?

Brief Answer:
You may need to do some tests.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
I read carefully your query and understand your concerns.
I am really sorry for all the health problems you have gone through.

It has been a long time (8 months) since the fall you had ,so even if there was a pulled muscle ,it would have healed by now so I don't think this is the cause for your pain.
If I were your treating doctor before attributing this pain in your upper right side to the trauma you suffered, I would first have ordered some investigations to exclude other possible causes.
You may need to do a chest X-ray and abdominal ultrasound because there are various conditions that can cause such symptoms including:liver conditions, gallbladder conditions, lungs disease ,peptic ulcer etc.

In my opinion you should consult a physician and get examined, just in case.

Hope it was of help.
Let me know if you have additional questions or doubt to clarify.I will be happy to assist you further.

Kind Regards!
