Detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Diarrhea is not the main symptom of diverticulitis. Usually diarrhea is caused by viral or bacterial infection of gastrointestinal tract. Most of diarrhea cases does not need medical attention and heals by its own. However if there is high fever, blood in stool or diarrhea lasts longer than 48 hours, stool tests should be done and antibiotics prescribed.
If diarrhea is intense can lead to dehydration. In such case it should be treated as life threatening and treated in a hospital. Typical symptoms of dehydration are high heart rate (over 100), low blood pressure, dark urine, low amount of urine, dry mouth. If you have any of this symptoms you should not wait and see your doctor right away.
Diverticulitis usually gives lower left side pain. Blood in stool and fever can be also present. If you have any of this symptoms you should also consult your doctor as soon as possible.
If you will not go to the doctor, please start probiotic intake. You should also avoid any solid foods for 12 hours and drink plenty of liquids.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
