What Causes Diarrhea, Blood In Stool And Flatulence?

Question: I have had a small dose of dihorrea over the past week and now i’m getting blood and mucus and a lot of wind before passing my stool. I have no other symptoms, can you please take a look at my picture and see if it’s cause for concern?

Hello,

Blood in the stool might mean different things depending on the cause. In your case the most likely cause is bleeding from hemorrhoids. If you've had pain then an anal fissure could be likely too. In cases like this the toilet paper gets wet by the remaining blood and the patient can see it.

Although this the most likely cause, there are other possibilities too, so visiting your doctor for inspection and perhaps endoscopic evaluation would be very helpful, particularly to exclude serious diagnoses like cancer.

Regarding the diarrhea, the most common cause is gastroenteritis, which is in most cases a self limiting disease.
