What Causes Detached Retina?

Question: Dr. Dadapeer, I wrote you a few weeks ago about a floater I had and my ophthalmologist had me back and looked at it again. He told me to come back in if I had other floaters since that might indicate a Detached Retina. At that time the floater was large, black, distinctly outlined, and shaped like a "O" or a "C". Now although I could not swear to it I think I still have the same floater but it is lighter colored, smaller, and less distinct but in all reality it could be that the first floater disappeared and this could be a new one. Should I wait and see or recontact my doctor?

I reviewed your history and the previous questions you had asked.

No need to be worried as you are not having increase in floaters.
Retinal detachment or retinal tear which precedes retinal detachment presents with sudden increase in pre-existing floaters or onset of floaters with flashes of light.

Since you are not having any of the symptoms suggesting this no need to be worried.
Hence as of now you can wait no need to be worried.
