What Causes Delayed Periods While On Mononessa?

default
Posted on Wed, 24 Sep 2014
Question: I've been taking the birth control pill Mononessa. Me and my boyfriend have been sexually active for about a month now and we never used a condom. Never missed a pill and never had irregular cycles for my period. I'm currently 8 days late for my period. I've had slight spotting the day I was supposed to get my period but nothing else. Took a pregnancy test when I was two days late came up negative. What should I do? Could I be pregnant?

Brief Answer:
pregnancy test advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello mam thanks for trusting health care magic.
Firstly do a urine pregnancy test and see for results.
At times positive test comes a little late.
If negative then you can take progesterone for withdrawal and attribute the delay in periods as a matter of coincidence which is common in early periods of pill intake.
But in case positive then consult a gynecologist as soon as possible.
Possibility of pregnancy is low in pill users to the incidence of only 0.3% with ideal pill intake.
So you can relax and do pregnancy test and then we can discuss the results.
All the best.
