What Causes Delay In Menstruation?
Question: hi doctor, im 30 year old boy.. one month before we , me and my girl friend had sex.. that time she is taking pill for increase these period day as she was coming XXXXXXX for some personal work and to avoid difficulties of period in traveling she use pill to increases the period days.. during the stay we come together and had sex..
after 5days of having sex she had periods for nest for days... now after one month from the having the incident she still not goes down.. as nex period time has already 5 more days ahead .. i am having worry about her, is any possibility of pregnancy for her.. we are on tense.. kindly suggest and advise.

1)Are her cycles regular usually?
2)When she had periods after the sex(ie.,date)?And was the bleeding usual?
3)Was any unprotected sex done after the periods?
4)When is her expected period now?And how many days delayed?

1. Yes her periods are regular, except this time.
2. We had unprotected sex on 13 Feb and after that she got period on 16 Feb for 4 days.
3. No unprotected sex done after the periods.
4. expected periods were on 18 march and its 8 days late now.
She had taken contraceptive pill name "regulate" before coming to XXXXXXX for 4 days and after stopping the dose she got periods after 2 days. But so much delay in menses this month. What possibly could be the reason and should any pill is required to induce the periods.

In my opinion as the unprotected sex was not done after the periods there might be no chance for pregnancy.
Intercourse was done before the periods and that might not affect this cycle.But it can be confirmed by urine pregnancy test.
So relax.As the period is 8 days delayed I suggest you to do a urine pregnancy test with early morning urine sample.If the test is negative wait for another 10 days for spontaneous onset of period.
If still no period even after 10 days take tablet.meprate 10 mg twice per day for withdrawal bleeding or periods. This is a prescription drug.
Mostly the delay might be due to hormonal imbalance.Even stress regarding anything or thought of pregnancy also delays the period.So relax and check for the period.
