What Causes Delay In Menstrual Bleeding Post An Intercourse?

default
Posted on Tue, 3 Jan 2017
Question: i have not gotten my periods since august 25th, 2016
i had intercourse twice during the month of september, which was protected, however, the protection tore down once.
i have taken severe pregnancy tests, the last being on the 20th November, 2016 and all the tests have turned out to be negative. also i dont have any symptoms at all.
i have had a history of irregular periods since the beginning, wherein i even miss a month. i took a course of medicines for regularising my periods for 5 moths last year, but it lead to pimple breakouts on my face, so i stopped post that.
i have been taking primolut n for the past 2 days (twice a day), but i dont seem to get my periods.

is there still any chance of pregnancy ?
kindly advice

Brief Answer:
Pregnancy not likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The urine pregnancy tests are 97% accurate. Pregnancy not likely after so many negative tests. Primolut N will help in bringing back the periods which is likely to be due to hormonal imbalance. Do continue taking it for at least 5 days and then stop taking it. The periods will start after 3-5 days of stopping Primolut N.
I hope this answers your query.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to many causes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The reasons of delayed periods may be hormonal imbalance, emotional upset, anxiety, stress, or other medical conditions that affect the ovaries, uterus, hypothalamus, or pituitary gland. Hypothyroidism, post pill amennorhea , polycystic ovarian syndrome or less frequently a pituitary tumor causing high prolactin levels or a hypothalamic disease are other causes that may be the cause here as pregnancy is ruled out.
Please visit your gynecologist to undergo physical check up and also to undergo relevant investigations required in your case to find out the cause if primolut N does not help so that treatment can be given accordingly.
Hope my answer is helpful.

Brief Answer:
Periods will start soon.

Detailed Answer:
The cramps and brown discharge is suggestive of an impending period. The soreness of nipples is also normal. The periods are likely to start in next 2-3 days. The medicine is working well. No need to worry.
