What Causes Delay In Menstrual Bleeding Post A Paragard IUD Insertion?

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Aug 2016
Question: I had Paragard inserted 4 months ago, and my fiance had a vasectomy month before that. I'm now a week late for my period. Realistically, how much of a chance is there that I'm pregnant? I'm very regular when it comes to my menstrual cycle and the only other time I've skipped one is when I got pregnant with my baby last February. I lost ten pounds last month as a result of a new diet and recently gave my 2 weeks at work... Those are the only 2 factors I can imagine would affect me.

Brief Answer:
Delayed periods

Detailed Answer:
Hi
greetings
You have inserted paragard 4 months before and 5 months before your husband has undergone vasectomy. It usually takes 2 to 3 months for the semen to be azoospermic meaning absent sperm.
That means he should be azoospermic now.If so there is no chance of pregnancy.
The second reason you have mentioned could be the cause for your delayed periods. Too much of dieting ,exercises and ,loss of weight can alter the hormonal levels and can delay your periods.
However you can either do a urine pregnancy test or husbands semen analysis to reassure if you are doubting pregnancy.
Hope my answer helps you. Regards
