Brief Answer:
It takes little time .

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX

It does take little time for gastro intestinal tract to become normal specially if both ends were invaded, but if restlessness continues call your treating doctor
Please let me know the reason for which these procedures were performed and if biopsy was done as well?
Please mention if you have any associated cardiac or any other illness, and medications prescribed to you ,for a more useful advice.
You are correctly avoiding aspirin.
Please avoid hot drinks and solid , spicy food. You can have ice cream if you are not diabetic.
Drink lot of cold water.
Waiting for your answer.
Good wishes.

Dr. XXXXXXX
Thanks very much for your prompt response. Reason for procedure was to establish a benchmark for the colonoscopy (first time) and sane for gastro but apparently a once-in-a-lifetime check if I have Barrett's asophagus.

Two small polyps removed in colon, don't know about the asophagus or stomach, don't know if sent for biopsy. Probably. I figure the black stool means the bleeding is high up in my system?

No cardiac problems. 20mg Lisinopril for high BP and 20mg Paxil for anxiety. Also take 75mg Zantac for reflux.

Had restless legs for years but it has been wild since Tuesday. Any breakthroughs there?

Brief Answer:
Bleeding due to removal of polyp.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Thanks for details.Good to know your awareness about the system.
Removal of polyps must have caused bleeding more than usual colonoscopy.
They must have been sent for histology.
Restless legs should also improve with general health.
Any way, please continue as advised by your treating physician and what ever extra I may have added to those.
Your stools should be getting lighter day by day.In my opinion your stools should be normal in anther 3 to 5 days.
Even slight increase in blood pressure may also add to prolonged bleeding. So get it checked.
If you do not feel any improvement , you must call you treating doctor.
Hope you have answer to your query, if any thing else you are welcome, or you can close the question by rating the answer.
Good luck.

Detailed Answer:

Your treating doctor is right person to tell about all procedures.
It is normal procedure to send any thing abnormal for biopsy.
