Posted on Wed, 25 Jun 2014
Question: I am 21 yr old and I had sex (11.05.14)2 days b4 my expected start of my periods(13.05.14) and the next day of sex i took ipill. Thus i got my periods 5 days later (17.05.14)and they were very heavy.they stopped on 21.05.14 . now since 02.06.14 i am having a very little discharge (7-8 drops) of dark brown color (almost black) and today's date is 05.06.14. Is there anything serious? or shall i wait before going to a doctor. And does this happen sometimes? And last time i had ipill was about 6 months earlier and never other than this i had i pill.
Please suggest also can u tell me why is this happening?

Brief Answer:
Side effects of I pill.

Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
Ipill basically contains progesterone which is known to cause menstrual irregularities as a side effect in next couple of months in almost 50 percent of women taking it.
So in my opinion just wait for your periods in full flow and the normal pattern of your periods will resume in a couple of months from now.
But in case you don't get them on expected dates then get an ultrasound done to see for the cause.
And from next cycle start taking a regular method of contraception because I pill intake can increase chances of tubal ectopic pregnancy which is a surgical emergency.

Can you tell me what does tubal ectopic pregnancy mean and also can you suggest some safe methods of contraceptions other than condom. Also me and my boyfriend are planning to get married next year march , can we plan a baby then , or how long one has to wait for planning baby after taking an ipill/ irregular periods .Also, i have taken ipill only 2 times till date in this lifetime, so how much it has increased chances of tubal ectopic pregnancy.
And finally considering current situation , is there anything to worry as i am a lil concerned abut it

Brief Answer:
oral pills best contraceptive for you.

Detailed Answer:
Good to see you again and its a pleasure to see your desire to know about contraception well on time.
Pregnancy usually gets attached to uterine lining in normal women, but in case due to some factor it gets implanted in fallopian tubes then it is called as 'tubal ectopic pregnancy'
The effect of ipill usually subsides in one or two months and as far your frequency of intake is concerned it won't affect your future prospects of conception.
Right now in this scenario when you are having a little bleeding even after your periods are over my only concern is mildly increased chances of tubal pregnancy which will come down to nil once you get your normal period.
Best method of contraception for you other than condoms is oral pills but first get your self examined by a gynecologist before taking them.

Till then keep using condoms meticulously and without miss.
Wish you best of life ahead and may god bless you with a healthy life.
