What Causes Dark Brown Spot Inside Lower Lip?

default
Posted on Mon, 4 May 2015
Question: Good Morning, I have a flat non-painful brownish spot just inside my lower lip. It just appeared overnight. My husband thinks I bit my lip as I do have TMJ and GAD and have had restless sleep. It is even in shape
and color. I do not smoke. Should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Injury due to bite is most probable.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Can you please attach a photo of it so I can give more precise answer?

Such spot which has appeared during one night is nothing serious for sure. As you do not smoke, any cancer in this location is hardly possible. Lack of pain makes any infection also impossible.
So most probable reason is some blood accumulation due to injury. Bite is possible for sure. As it is painless I suggest you to leave it alone and just have it under observation. If its a bite indeed, should go away within few days.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
