Question: Hi

Two weeks ago I had unprotected sex with a new partner. On the same weekend I also had protected sex with another new partner, using a latex condom. I have not had sexual intercourse since.

A day later, I have noticed dampness in my boxers and this has been persistent for the last two weeks since wearing the condom. I do not experience any pain whilst urinating and there is no evidence of discharge other than dampness in my boxers. I do sometimes experience mild discomfort around the tip of my penis, but no whilst urinating, and this discomfort usually comes and goes and is not constant. Occasionally I feel the need to urinate more frequently but not every day.

I have had similar symptoms about three times in the past, always after wearing a latex condom (on one occasion a condom did break) and have never been diagnosed with an STD. Previous symptoms have always been more severe and usually clear themselves after a month, and has usually been blamed on an irritation caused by intercourse. On two occasions I was given chlamydia treatment before receiving my test results and this also helped to clear the symptoms.

For peace of mind, I am going to visit my local sexual health clinic to get checked out.

Does this sound more like an allergy to latex condoms, or could it be an STD? I will be using latex-free condoms from now on anyway.
