What causes daily sinus pressure and ear pain?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 May 2016
Question: I have daily sinus pressure and ear aches with no drainage. I've seen multiple ENT doctors who say everything looks fine and nothing is wrong. If that is the case why do I feel like this every day? I've been through allergy testing - nothing; my hearing checked - good; I'm at my wits end as this is effecting my life. I've tried multiple antibiotics and nose sprays. Someone is missing something. Now this is starting to affect my vision. Does anyone have any other recommendations? Thank you

Brief Answer:
head CT scan is important to exclude a mass or growing tumor

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query

I am afraid it is important to exclude a mass growing or exerting pressure on the sinuses and inner ear areas. Extensive growth could lead to intracranial hypertension with visual issues as one of its manifestations.

I think doing a head ct scan and with special focus on the sinuses in search of mass a or polyps remains imperative.

Thanks and kind regards

Brief Answer:
course of steroids, ENT - Neurological opinion in case of persistence

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the update

In case symptoms persist after this course of antibiotics, a course of steroids might be helpful. These could be oral or local.

Your ENT doctor working with the opinion of a neurologist could be helpful .

Thanks and kind regards
