Brief Answer: The symptoms could be related to lumbar puncture. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thank you for posting your query. I have noted the symptoms of your mother. Her symptoms- pain in the buttocks, thigh and leg are most probably related to the lumbar puncture (LP). During the LP, the needle seems to have partly damaged the lumbar nerves, which travel downward to buttocks, thigh and legs. So, this kind of pain occasionally occurs as a minor complication of LP. There is no need to worry as symptoms would subside soon. She may take pregabalin or gabapentin capsules for pain relief. For the confirmation of normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a repeat LP may be required, which can be done by a trained personnel such as an anaesthetist under the fluroscopy/ultrasound guidance. I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.
