Brief Answer:
Its normal to have slight discomfort and cramps after pap smear

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
You might experience cramps for about 3 days after the pap smear examination. This is because of the nature of the test and this can cause slight pain and discomfort. There can also be slight bleeding or spotting in some women for few days. It is suggested that you allow yourself a little rest from heavy physical activities for two to three days.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Brief Answer:
Certain structural abnormalities causing infertility are detectable on scan

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

Since you have written about cramps in the first 24 hours and you do not have any other symptoms like heavy bleeding therefore I consider it as acceptable and not a serious concern. If the cramps extends beyond 3 days then you surely need to have a talk with your doctor.

There are certain structural abnormalities what can be detected by doing transvaginal and pelvic ultrasound scans. These structural abnormalities can cause primary or secondary infertility, but please do not worry as such abnormalities are rare in occurrence.

It will help to know why you got the scans and pap smear done and you can send across your report details should you like to have it discussed.

Investigations for infertility are done only if a woman cannot conceive after 12 months of trying to conceive in the natural way. Please do not worry.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

thank you. the doctor said my cervix is nice and healthy. does that mean there is no progressive cancer?

Brief Answer:
The pap smear is most important to comment on progressive cancer

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX
Thanks for writing back with an update.

From your query it appears that you are getting checked for ?cervical dysplasia, please correct me if I am wrong.

As cervix is healthy in appearance, there is no need to worry but for all cervical conditions the pap smear report is most important. I guess the ultrasound scan reports are normal as well.

In case of any progression of cervical cancer, the pap smear will show the abnormal cells and if required this is confirmed by doing a cervical biopsy.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
