Question: Daughter in ER Tuesday for excessive pain in back when breathing 8/10 causing her to cry. Worse when sing or cough. Discharge dx pleurisy. Possible viral infection cause. Given six 325mg tablets hydrocodone for her pain. Between Tues lat/Wed AM and Thurs 10:10 PM took three of six hydrocodone. Wed rash burning slightly raised pink started at her elbows. Fri rash spread up arms, across her back felt like burning sensation. By 4:30 electric current sensations shooting down her arms causing flinching from pain every 14 seconds. Returned to ER Friday evening. Discharged 10 PM. I think she is having adverse reaction to hydrocodone. i do not think it should have been given as she has history of EIGHT head injuries, and is a fair red head and it is not an appropriate rx.so...I think the ER addressed issues from Tuesday's visit on Friday, they tried to search for the cause of the original illness or virus that led to ER visits. Tuesday's visits degree of pain led to rx of hydrocodone. As a mother, I believe the only new element introduced to her life since last week-end is the hydrocodone and I am sure the rash and feeling of electrical current are both neurological responses, which I do not understand, as a result of the hydrocodone. At 8:45 this AM took 25 mg benadryl feels all over pain as decreased,
The presenting issues of Tuesday include lethargy, headache, runny nose, sore throat, achy all over, but most concerning pain while breathing in her back and her front rib area. Right of spine, mid back was notably swollen. Lung sounds clear on Tues. Chest x ray taken Fri-clear
please describe ENTERO VIRUS
Have been pushing fluids.
Tardol shot in ER Tuesday and Friday evening
Wed, Thurs, and Fri 600 mg ibupropn three times a day with meals

NEED MORE SUGGESTION to care for her

Brief Answer:
Could be enteroviral pleurodynia

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
The symptoms you had described fit very well with pleurodynia
This is common with enterovirus.
What happens here muscles are swollen and painful and tender.
The nonpolio enteroviruses (group A and B coxsackieviruses, echoviruses, enteroviruses) are responsible for a wide spectrum of diseases in persons of all ages.
The rash and pain may not be related to hydrocortisone.

Dont worry. The pain and swelling will settle in one week.
No antiviral treatment is available.
Spontaneous recovery is seen in almost all cases.

Continue toradol ( anti inflammatory ) and ibuprofen
Plenty of liquids to keep her hydrated
Wishing her speedy recovery
