Posted on Sat, 3 May 2014
Question: Cough progesively worsened over last three months, been to doctor in January when began and to another doctor in early March. They believe it is viral. My family and co-workers and I believe it is something much worse. I had no prior history of cough since I was a child. I used to occasionally smoke cirgars, but gave them up 8 years ago. Rash on my neck and upper chest began a few weeks ago. I feel something stuck in my throat around lower part of my Adam's apple.

Brief Answer: Need detailed investigation as I said below Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for your query. By this time you need a detailed evaluation of your cough. Do you have wheezing? Do you have any chest pain? Is there any expectoration? What BP medications are you using? Please answer my queries. You should also go through the following investigations - 1. a repeat chest x-ray 2. If it becomes normal then a HRCT scan thorax surely 3. Spirometry with bronchodialator reversibility 4. Hemoglobin, TC, DC, ESR 5. Sputum for acid fast bacilli and eosinophil count 6. If there is any allergic manifestation then serum absolute eosinophil count and allergic skin test with total serum IgE estimation Consult a good pulmonologist and get your chest examined thoroughly. I think by all these you will get an answer to your problem. If you have further queries dont hesitate to ask me. If you are happy with my response kindly write a review for me.
