default
Posted on Sat, 8 Oct 2016
Question: I have been throwing up, just stomach bile. Have had the feeling I'm going to throw up for over 12 hours. No fever, no chills. When I sleep on my side my chest hurts, almost like I'm squeezing my heart, I immediately wake up and feel like I'm going to throw up and actually have. I'm having upper stomach pains. No desire to eat or drink. Thinking I should just go to the hospital.

Brief Answer:
as explained in details.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Female/50 - have had the feeling of throwing up 12 hours - throwing up stomach bile - chest hurts on sleeping on side - like squeezing heart - got up and vomited - pains upper stomach - no desire to eat or drink - no fever, no chills - thinking of going to hospital
As per the history you have provided, I would like to advise you teh following:
Go to the hospital for the following reasons:
- First of all, to get the EKG as you have feeling of like squeezing heart, hence always better to confirm or rule out any cardiac problems.
- Get a clinical evaluation, examination and investigations done.
- Take PPI like Omeprazole
- Antacid
- Domperidone as advised and prescribed.
- Injectable anti-emetic (to stop nausea and vomiting)

Hopefully these medicines help you to get a complete relief.
If not, to go for an opinion of a Gastroenterologist .
Upper GI Endoscopy to decide the cause and have further management as required.

I hope this answer help you.
