Brief Answer:
requires assessment for osteoarthritis, physical therapy, anti-infammatory

Detailed Answer:
hello

Pain in knee could be due to old age degenerative changes in the joint called osteoarthritis, which can be confirmed by physical examination of knee and X ray/MRI of knee.

You may seek help of an orthopedic surgeon.

In mean time , he may take acetaminophen/diclofenac group of drugs and pantoprazole in consultation with your doctor . Do hot fomentation and mild knee active exercises, quadriceps drill( tightening and loosening the muscles above knee in lower end of thigh). He may do walking with short breaks to avoid over strain. For severe pain tramadol is helpful. local application of anti-inflammatory gel like voltaren after fomentation is also helpful.

Hope this helps.
