What Causes Constant Heartburn, Nausea, Muscle Pain And Cough?

default
Posted on Thu, 5 May 2016
Question: I have acid reflux and lately I have been unable to control it even with medication. It wakes me up at night with coughing. Today, I have constant heartburn, the feeling of having to vomit and muscle aches and cough. I should let you know that I have been seeing a gastro-enterologist and have had a colonoscopy, an endoscope, stomach emptying test, ultra sound of liver and a breath test. None of these tests showed anything out of the ordinary, although the endoscopy revealed varices. I should also tell you that I lost both of my parents (January and December) and a beloved aunt (March) in the last year.

Also I have had diarrhea for some time starting around the time my aunt died.

Brief Answer:
Need to increase dose of PPI

Detailed Answer:
hello,
I have gone through the details you have provided, I would suggest to take a proton pump inhibitor like pantopeazole twice a day along with a prokinetic. You'll also need investigations to find the cause of varices..
avoid lying down for at least three hours after meals.
Avoid alcohol, tobacco, red meat, citrus fruits, chocolate and mint ,deep fried foods

a head raised wedge pillow should help.
