What Causes Constant Change In The Flow Of Urine?

default
Posted on Wed, 9 Sep 2015
Question: my urine patterns keep changing. I will go fro urinating strong and easy. Then hesitancy comes in sometimes. On three occasions I had experience not being able to empty my bladder and had to be catheterized two of those times. really no pain until I had to go to the er that time from now being able to go on my own,but after the release, it goes away. I have been taking benadryl and pain relievers pm for years. sometimes both in the same day, but not at the same time. I recently stop taking both over-the-counter medications a little under two weeks ago. I saw sum improvement. I still have sum leakage from time to time it's not consistent, any ideas what this could be... it started off having a weak urine flow, then I would walk around for a couple minutes and the return to the toilet and it returns normal. one time I had a problem starting so I thought my urine flow, and because I really don't drink much, I drink a bottle of water and then urinated about six times.....lol .... because the problems change I don't know what to do.....

Brief Answer:
Basic tests needed to assess for proper treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, from the symptoms you're describing, you must get the following tests done:
1.urine routine and culture.
2.blood urea, creatinine, sugar.
3.Urodynamic test.
4.Ultrasound scan of KUB( kidney, ureter and bladder).
Why are you taking Benadryl for so long. What's the indication.
After seeing the reports of the tests as mentioned above, i can give you an expert opinion, regarding further treatment, so that, you're relieved of your symptoms.
Wish you well.

Brief Answer:
stop Benadryl and pain killers.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
You must know that Benadryl isn't a sedative. It's become habit forming for you.
Stop it as soon as possible. Pain killer medication can damage the kidney.
For scientific answers', you'll have to do most of the tests mentioned.
You don't think of cancer. This isn't the way it presents.
Till you meet the Urologist, i can suggest you take Tamsulosin 0.4mg, at bed time.
As it's a prescription drug, ask your local doctor, to give you a prescription.
Wish you well.

Brief Answer:
hereditary cancers are known.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
You're welcome to clarify all your doubts with me.
Certain type of cancers are hereditary in nature or have a strong link.
If you let me know, which cancer runs in your family, i can try to clear that doubt. Then you can do certain tests if needed, to know, if you're prone for that.
Hope your doubts are cleared soon. Be relaxed.

Brief Answer:
Hereditary cancers are uncommon.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
HNPCC or hereditary non-polyposis colonic cancers, are known, and are also associated with uterine cancers.
Colonic polyps are the presenting feature in many of them, and a biopsy then establishes the diagnosis, by colonoscopy.
If you feel very anxious about it, consult an oncologist( cancer specialist), and find out if, there's any need to have some tests, for clearing your doubt.
Don't worry at all.
