default
Posted on Wed, 5 Nov 2014
Question: a) Increasing weight since 1.5 years even after a very strict diet in terms of no fried food, no coke ,very less oil. Home cooking oil consumption is like 1 .5 months for 1 litre for one person
b) Gained 15 kgs in 1 year
c) Play lawn tennis daily for 2 hours.
d) Got thyroid test 1 year back. It was fine . I will attach the same soon.

Please advise if any tests can detect what is wrong?
I am sure I am on a very controlled diet. I previously thought it is due to medicines like Nexito Forte which I take daily. But those are totally stopped now.

Brief Answer:
need to check cortisol.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, hi! welcome to HCM. Even if you thyroid is normal, there can be other causes like, hypercortisolism, which can cause weight gain. Do you have any other symptom like high blood pressure, tiredness, lethargy, purple colored stretch marks over abdomen? If yes you must check your fasting Cortisol 8 am sample.
If that comes normal, we will move ahead. Is your family profile obese? If yes, it can be genetic. You have not mentioned your wight and height any where. Kindly let me know that as well. Regards!

you don't need to cut down eating if you are dieting . you need to eat the right food at the right time and in right amount.
moderate exercise needs to be continued.

Brief Answer:
cortisol is normal as well.

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, in my opinion, your weight gain is not due to underlying hormonal disorder. it is mainly genetic and life style. so medical intervention is not required and is not going to be o much help. regular exercise and diet regulation is the answer for you. regards!
