Brief Answer:
Seems to be congenital absence of skin

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have reviewed the attached photographs and the child is most probably suffering from congenital absence of skin.
It can occur as a single anomaly or as a sign of any underlying defect like absence or hypoplasty of distal phalanges, congenital heart disease or epidermolysis bullosa.
This child needs a cardiac, neurological and orthopaedic and skin examination to rule out any underlying defects.
The treatment for this should be skin grafting by a plastic surgeon.
This child requires a multi modality approach to have a complete work up done.

thanks, child is present at a centre where all this investigation can't be done. with mother still recovering from c section, can we wait couple of months before taking both mother and child to bigger city having all facilities. what's the risk involved? local dermatologist and pedriatician are treating him by using local and oral antibiotics to treat the leg condition

Brief Answer:
Can wait for some time if child is healthy otherwise

Detailed Answer:
If the child is taking regular feeds and is not showing any other symptoms like fever and excessive crying you can wait for some time before getting him evaluated.
There won't be much risks involved if he is healthy and responding normally.
Antibiotics can be used to prevent secondary infection.

Brief Answer:
Child needs to be evaluated at a higher centre

Detailed Answer:
One of the doctor has diagnosed it to be TEN or SSSS. Both these conditions appear less likely as it involves the whole body and mucosa and not just one leg.
Both these are commonly associated with drug intake which is not the case in this new born child.
The other doctor has advised regarding dressing with antibiotic fusidic acid which needs to be done.
Both have referred the child to higher centres for evaluation which needs to be done.
