Brief Answer:
Could be sciatica.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The sensation of cold freezing sensation running down hips and legs can be due to a condition called sciatica.
It is a condition caused by an irritation of the nerve roots that lead to the sciatic nerve.

This nerve is formed by the nerve roots coming out of the spinal cord into the lower back. It goes down through the buttock then its branches extend down the back of the leg to the ankle and foot

The most common cause of sciatica is a bulging or ruptured disc in the spine pressing against the nerve roots that lead to the sciatic nerve. I would advise you to do go to the emergency department and do a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of lumbosacral spine

You can lessen your cold freezing sensation running down hips and legs by using a heating pad on a low or medium setting for 15 to 20 minutes every 2 or 3 hours.

Try a warm shower in place of one session with the heating pad. Another thing you could do is also buy single use heat wraps that last up to 8 hours.

Sometimes putting an ice-pack for 10 to 15 minutes every 2 to 3 hours is recommended.I will also advise you to consult a neurologist.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
