What Causes Clear Liquid Drainage From An Ulcer On The Knee?

Question: I have ulcer on the side of my ankle caused by a stitch that was removed almost a year after surgery. It is now draining a clear liquid. I don't see my doctor for another 2 weeks do I have anything to be concern about. I am not a diabetic just having a very hard time healing.

The clear discharge from your ulcer is just normal fluids due to the wound. We call it transudat. There is nothing to be worried here. Just make sure to keep the wound clean to not get infected.
At this point you don't need antibiotics because it is not infected. But if the discharge changes color (white discharge,yellow or green) than probably it is pus (sign of infection)

You can apply etilic alcohol to make sure that the ulcer (wound) will not get infected.
