What Causes Chills, Tightness In The Chest, Dry Cough And Wheezing?

default
Posted on Fri, 3 Feb 2017
Question: About 3 weeks ago I got very chilled, then had a tight feeling chest for 4 days, and then the dry coughing and wheezing began. Then a few very light cold symptoms. My dr. diagnosed an upper resp. infection, gave me nebulizer treatment, an inhaler and prednisone. No results so started an antibiotic and felt some better the next day. I'm now just on OTC Mucinex for chest congestion and Sudafed for stuffy ears and nose. My only symptoms are the dry cough that is sometimes productive, some chest congestion and congestion in my nasal passages and ears. I'm somewhat low of energy but do not feel sick. No fever, no sore throat, et. QUESTION: should I be doing something more or is it safe for me to continue rest, liquids and OTC?

Brief Answer:
Your plan is good enough!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have reviewed your information and the ongoing plan. This is well spelled out to address an upper respiratory tract infection. There is truly nothing more which needs to be added at this time. Recovery is not always instantaneous and that’s why you are feeling fatigued and low on energy. Rest, moderate exercise, fluids and OTC are sufficient. recovery often lags behind infection control.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
